Poly kicked off kidding season 2/2/23 with twin bucklings!

The boys are healthy and vigorous, and incredibly cute and Poly is being a great mama. They are both variations on black and tan, with white on their polls. One is very light cream on his legs and looks to have a moonspot on his shoulder. The other is a darker tan and has quite a bit of roaning. Both boys have brown eyes are have been disbudded.

Happy’s triplet kids are all doing great and two of them are super flashy. They all appear to have excellent conformation, length and width. Their mama is producing over a gallon of milk per day. It appears the the doeling is the only one with blue eyes, and all three have been disbudded. They are super healthy and growing like weeds!

Esmee & Julian

Bred Date: 10/14/22

Due Date: 3/13/23

We weren’t sure who we wanted to breed our beautiful Esmee to this year. We had originally intended to breed her to Iro, and they had one encounter in August. However, she didn’t seem to settle and Esmee just didn’t seem to be a fan or our other bucks. We were super excited to hear from our friend Jeanne Carson at Inavale Mini Goats about the potential to breed Esmee to her gorgeous Cedar Creek buck Julian. Kids will be F2 and have the potential for buckskin, roaning, and excellent milk production, width and breed character! Check out Julian’s details on our Reference Bucks page. Esmee may have doelings and bucks available.

Esmee kidded on March 14 with beautiful buck doe twins!

Esmee’s twins are looking gorgeous. The buckling is black and tan with white on his face and white stripes all over. The doeling is a dark buckskin with a partial white belt and adorable white markings all over her face. She also appears to have some roaning. Both kids have brown eyes and have been disbudded. Their mama is our greatest producer and they are eating well!

R6 - Cherrywell’s Shining Armor *B. F2 buckling. Black and tan with white on poll, face, legs, and partial white belt.; frosted ears and muzzle Brown eyes. Disbudded.

RESERVED.

R7 - Cherrywell’s Twilight Sparkle. F2 doeling. Dark buckskin with wide white belt, white on poll and down face, light roaning; frosted ears and muzzle. Brown eyes. Disbudded.

RETAINED.

Millie & Dolomite.

Bred Date: 10/19/22

Due Date: 3/18/23

Millie was bred to our new buck Dolomite this year for F3 kids. We are excited to see how Millie’s udder changes with this second freshening. We are also hopeful Millie may be able to earn her milk star next year. Kids will have the possibility of moonspots and may be polled. Doelings and wethers may be available.

Millie kidded on March 19 with healthy beautiful BDD triplets!!

We tragically lost Millie only a week after she kidded, due to a perforated ulcer, most likely caused by an underlying kidney issue that acidified her rumen. She was an excellent mama and loved her babies until the end. Her udder was looking much improved this year, and we miss her immensely! She was a dream to milk with nice large teats and open orifices. She milked all the way out effortlessly. Her triplets are being bottle raised and are thriving. All three are polled, and the buckling is wildly spotted.

R8 - Cherrywell’s Lieutenant Dolan. F3 buckling. Black with extensive multicolored moonspots. Brown eyes. Polled.

RESERVED.

R9 - Cherrywell’s Kinsey Millhone. F3 doeling. Black with extensive white overlay, white on face and poll. Brown eyes. Polled.

RETAINED.

R10 - Cherrywell’s Vera Lipton. F3 doeling. Black with wide white belt, white on poll and face, white bands on legs. Brown eyes. Polled.

Baby & Dolomite.

*Updated*

Bred Date: 1/4/23

Due Date: 6/3/23

Baby apparently didn’t take on her first breeding, so we’ve chosen to pair her with Dolomite for early June Kids. We hate breeding this late, but we have a bunch of girls who didn’t cooperate so kidding season will be essentially split into two sessions. She will be another first freshener. Kids will be F4. Roaning, buckskin, moonspots, and polled kids possible. Doelings and wethers may be available.

Baby kidded June 1 with a single wildly spotty buckling!

We had not intended to retain any kids from Baby, and in fact had planned to sell her in milk this summer. However, Baby is looking great as a first freshener, and has really surprised us. She has widened out and her udder is looking fabulous. She seems to be a very good producer and will be on milk test this year. After having a couple of friends look at her buckling and confirm what we thought, we are tentatively planning to retain him to use in our program. Swayze is long, wide, and so very handsome!

R11 - Cherrywell’s Patrick Swayze. F4 buckling. Dark buckskin with extensive moonspots, roaning, white on poll.

RETAINED.

Lily & Jared.

Bred Date: 1/11/23

Due Date: 6/10/23

Lily is a large and healthy doeling, so we decided to add her to our later breeding group so we could see how she freshens this year. Lily was bred to Jared, and they should produce some incredible kids. Kids will be F5, and will have the potential for moonspots and blue eyes. Doelings and wethers may be available.

Lily kidded on June 10 with healthy twin doelings!

Lily was due to kid on the same day we had planned to haul four of our show string down to Roseburg to compete in one of very few sanctioned shows for miniature breeds. We had been keeping a super close eye on her, and she didn’t show any signs of kidding when we headed out late Friday evening. We obsessively checked our barn cams throughout the day on Saturday and she seemed like she was going to hold out for us. However, at the end of the day after we had headed home, we realized that we hadn’t checked her cam in a while. When I pulled up the live feed I saw TWO kids lying in the stall and Lily munching on some hay!! We called and had a family member run out to check on them and the little family was doing well. Both doelings have amazing long Nubian ears and both have their dad’s blue eyes. Despite being confused initially, Lily is being a great mom and is keeping up with feeding the twins easily as a yearling first freshener.

R12 - Cherrywell’s Beautiful Berry. F5 doeling. Black and tan with white on poll, frosted ears and muzzle, single moonspot, and roaning. Blue eyes.

AVAILABLE - $650.

R13 - Cherrywell’s Cute Cucumber. F5 doeling. Buckskin with roaning, frosted ears and muzzle. Blue eyes.

AVAILABLE - $650.

Lucy & Jared.

*Updated*

Bred Date: 1/14/23

Due Date: 6/13/23

Lucy was another of our uncooperative girls and didn’t take when bred in the fall. Lucy remains super petite, so we’ve decided to breed her to Jared because he is a smaller statured buck. Lucy will be a first freshener and kids will be F5. Kids should have very good milk potential and will likely be on the smaller side. Moonspots, roaning, and blue eyes will be possible. Doelings and wethers may be available.

Lucy kidded on June 13 with a single blue-eyed buckling!

Lucy kidded with basically no assistance from us and is being an excellent and very protective mother. Her buckling is adorable, and has his daddy’s blue eyes. Lucy is looking great and producing a lot of milk. We will have her on test later this summer. Because Lucy is a first freshener, her buckling will be available as a pet wether this year. He is adorable and friendly!

R14 - Cherrywell’s Baby Filbert. F5 buckling. Black and tan (almost white) with frosted ears and muzzle, white on poll, light roaning. Blue eyes.

AVAILABLE AS A PET WETHER - $175.

Aggie (Nubian) & Dolomite.

*Updated*

-Cancelled-

Aggie didn’t end up settling, so this breeding is cancelled and Aggie may be retired from the breeding program. Our purebred ADGA Nubian, Aggie was all over the place with our bucks earlier in the fall and then encountered some health issues. She didn’t end up settling, so she will be bred to Dolomite in January and join our (facepalm) June kidding group. Their kids will be F1 Mini-Nubians with great milk and conformation prospects. While Aggie herself was never shown, she comes from excellent milk lines at Humfleet’s Nubian Dairy Goats in Redmond, and her dam earned her Superior Genetics listing with ADGA.

Prynne & Jared.

*Updated*

-Cancelled-

Prynne didn’t settle on this single breeding attempt, and given how late in the season we added her to the plan, we’ve decided to hold her over with the other dry yearlings and will breed her in fall of 2023. Prynne is wide and healthy so she was also added to our late season kidding roster. Prynne was bred to Jared for nice smaller statured F5 kids. These babies will have a good potential for moonspots and blue eyes are also possible. Doelings and wethers may be available.

Emmy & Jared.

*Updated*

-Cancelled-

Emmy and Jared were bred for F5 kids earlier in the fall, but it was determined by ultrasound that Emmy was carrying a false pregnancy. We dealt with that issue and she is doing very well, so had planned to try breeding her again in late January. Unfortunately, after her false pregnancy recovery period, Emmy ended up not cycling again in January so she will be taking the 2023 kidding season off. We will assess whether to try breeding her one last time in the fall.
